Ritual Matter

“Il faut cultiver notre jardin.” Voltaire, Candide

“Mushrooms represent rebirth, rejuvenation, regeneration.” Paul Stamets

In Ritual Matter, I work with classical ceramic forms such as urns, vessels, and offering plates. The series emerged from a psychedelic experience and centers on beauty and the garden as metaphor. The work includes gilded garden urns blooming with fungi, offering plates bearing spore prints, and vessels that articulate a held sense of sufficiency and connection.

I keep the knowledge that all I require is already mine.
I am lucky to have this place in the world.

Offering Plates

2025, Mushroom spore prints on ceramic plates gilded with 22K gold and silver, size variable

A wall constellation of Offering Plates, made from unglazed clay with gilded accents and mushroom spore prints, functions as devotional objects. Their delicate impressions are like fossils, quiet remnants that carry the trace of life.

I am cultivating my garden.
